Busker scores on step up to a mile

September 23, 2019

Sir Busker powered his way to win the mile 0-90 Handicap at Kempton this evening under a masterclass ride from Jamie Spencer.

Having jumped well, Spencer took the 3yo Sir Prancelot gelding back, preferring to keep him off the pace at the rear of the field. He waited patiently for the cutaway then sent Sir Busker for an inside run up the rail.

Spencer kept up a strong drive for the final 2 furlongs and Sir Busker battled hard to repel the efforts of Roger Varian's Edaraat, eventually beating the favourite by a neck. This was a tight handicap and a bold performance from this consistent gelding. He clearly enjoyed the step up to a mile and this should open up more options for him.

Congratulations to owners Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds!
