2023 End of Year Review

January 5, 2024

2023 was a challenging year for the Rathmoy Stables team. After a frustrating spring and summer, the form picked up in the latter part of the year with some nice wins recorded and a strong finish right through December.

The yard posted a total of 16 wins for the year and a total of £318,732.50 in prizemoney. 13 horses won one or more races each, with the star performer being CHECKANDCHALLENGE. He ran a total of 7 times in 2023, including 4thin the Group 1 QEII at Ascot on Champions Day and 5th in a Group 2at Longchamp, picking up a total of £101,318 prize money and finishing the year on a mark of 112. His highlight of the season came in November when winning the James Seymour Listed race at Newmarket.

REGALENVOY, LORDSBRIDGE GIRL and RED HAT EAGLE all won two races each. DUAL IDENTITY was the second highest earner of the year, picking up a nice Class 2 Handicap at Sandown in September. HOLKHAM BAY ran consistently, being placed a few times and winning over 6f in October.

CHARTWELLHOUSE, BUNKER BAY, PARADISE ROW and GAUNTLET were also amongst the winners, with SUGARLOAF LENNY and ROYAL VELVET flying the flag for the 2yos.

FROST ATDAWN won impressively on her second start before shipping out to Dubai for the carnival. She ran a massive race on her first start at Meydan in December, finishing second to what looks to be a very good horse, pulling 5 lengths clear of the third horse.

William has a nice new batch of 2yos starting their education and is welcoming back the older horses who are returning from their winter breaks. The whole team is looking forward to a successful 2024.

Thank you to all of our owners and excellent team of staff who make all of this possible.
