Progressive Rating made virtually all of the running to land the bet365 Heritage Handicap over 6f at Newmarket this afternoon. Given a positive ride by in form jockey Callum Shepherd, the 3yo son of Bated Breath raced prominently in the centre of the track. He travelled nicely and did not seem to mind the soft conditions underfoot, pulling away to a 1/2 length victory over Richard Fahey's 'Exceptional', with the William Haggas trained favourite back in third. This was Progressive Rating's 3rd consecutive win, with the colt having won twice as a 2yo last season. He is an exciting prospect for the rest of the season being lightly raced and seemingly versatile.
