The son of Medecis has not won since December 2008 but has some decent form in the book and was the well-backed 2/1 favourite to get the job done today.

Jockey Shane Kelly tracked the pace set by Officer In Command and December Draw always looked to be travelling well within himself.

The pacesetter kicked for home rounding the final bend and went a couple of lengths clear.

But December Draw responded to Kelly’s urgings in fine style and quickened up well to collar the leader inside the final 50 yards, the winning margin given as three-quarters of a length.
